So, I believe this site is in a desperate need of an update. Here's a quick recap on everyone...
Angela (Brown) graduated in May, a scary thought. The over achiever completed college in three years and now resides in McKinney Texas. This year will not be as entertaining without her. We need our Joey fix.
Fusch spent the summer working at KA again and I'm sure will be returning with great stories and even better dance moves. Sadly though she will not be moving back to Norman, but instead will be going up the road to OKC. She'll be starting her second year of Pharmacy school and will have frequent visitors from Norman (aka, Kim, Melissa, Blond and Newman)
Fiddy experienced her first summer at LLYC in beautiful Leakey, TX as a Cabin I counselor at Echo Valley. By far one of the greatest places! The camp's saying is "the best two weeks of your life" and well from my experience not many things have come close to compairing to my time there. Fiddy will also be making the move to OKC to live with Fusch and start her first year of Nursing school. Norman won't be the same without her. We have no idea who will replace her as our work out and cereal inspiration.
Melissa spent the summer interning at Grant Thorton and spent precious time with her family, friends, and Don. Right now she's on an Alaskan cruise, which all of us are extremely jealous of. Thankfully Mel and her Ross like attributes will be spending another year in the deej! Oh and if you're ever in the mood for some chocolate pie, she's your girl. It's awesome, I tried to recreate it and failed miserably.
Newman, spent half her summer living in Norman and going to summer school. Then it was off to LLYC to work at Singing Hills. However, she was not a counselor in Selah cabin. Rather, she tried her hand as a cook! Crazy, we're all waiting for the stories. Newman will be graduating in December, another over achiever. She and I will be roomies this year in the deej and hopefully we will manage to not be as lazy as we were in the dorms. But we're not making any promises, haha.
Blond hair was the first to return to the dee gee house. She spent her summer in the Harwell home and interning at General Dynamic, if you get the chance ask her to tell the cookie story, it's a great one! Her presidential duties required her to move back early and I'm sure is pining away for out return. Haha.
My summer in Kansas is coming to a close and I'm preparing for my move back to 744 Elm for one more year. For those who didn't know I have been living in Arkansas City, Kansas working as an intern for General Electric. It's been a great experience and I've learned a lot.
I cannot thank the Lord enough for this summer. Living by myself has been so refreshing and has taught me so much. I needed so badly to get away after last semester and allow the Lord to restore me. It's amazing how consumed I had become with myself. Being away this summer I've realized how much I dwell on the future and build up expectations in my mind. So often I refuse to surrender my desires and allow them to grow and develop into expectations that I have created. Recently I've been learning how important it is to livei n the present. As an expert day dreamer, this has been extremely difficult for me. However, the peace from the Lord that comes with taking each day as it comes is AMAZING! And I have enjoyed the things I do so much more, because I'm not constantly thinking about what comes next. Friends, please pray that the Lord will continue to teach me how to live in the present and not wish for the future, especially as school starts back. This semester is going to be great and I don't want to miss any opportunity that the Lord sets before me.
Well guys, I should get started working on the "pitch" (presentation) that I have to give in two days. Naturally, I haven't started (story of my life). There are many things on the agenda for this semester, first off lake trip followed hopefully by a camping/float trip. Let us know if your interested.
